High coolant temp in the message box of my chevy monte carlo.?

what does that mean? i just had a tune up about 5 days ago. Plus, do you guys think 175 dollars is too much to spend for my car's tune up? he changed the spark plugs, oil,air filters, and the PVC valve. I spent 75 dollars at autoparts and gave him 100 bucks. How much do they usually go for? I know i have a lot of questions on there.High coolant temp in the message box of my chevy monte carlo.?you got a good deal on the tune up,that was a real fair price for what all he done, you may have a sensor going bad in the coolant reservoir ,and that may be what is sending the signal to set the light off, have this checked, also make sure the reservoir is full of coolant,it has a mark on it full when hot or cold, make sure its where it should be at,if it is you could have a thermostat going bad on it,or just the sensor going bad ,sometimes it will send out a false reading and make that message appear, but have it checked to be sure, you don't want to run it hot, good luck with it.High coolant temp in the message box of my chevy monte carlo.?check your coolant level. you might need a thermostat or water pump. if its not over heating then it can be the temp switch which looks exactly like the temp sensor. or it could be the temp sensor. the temp sensor sends a signal to the fan what the car gets warm to cut on. the temp switch is the light that tells you check coolant.

thats about right! its usually about 200 bucks since you bought the parts it came out cheaper.High coolant temp in the message box of my chevy monte carlo.?On today's cars its more than just spark plugs and oil change , If he did a complete tune up you got away good , now the over heating has to do with the antifreeze check and make sure its full he should have done that for you if its full you might need a thermostat and new antifreeze hope this helps.High coolant temp in the message box of my chevy monte carlo.?going labor rate is about 70 - 80 an hour, so that's about right.

check the connections on the thermostat housing for the coolant temp. sensor. They may have knocked it lose, and that would couse a false high reading.
