How to change coolant in Rover 75?

Is there more to it than draining off and refilling? How to change coolant in Rover 75?Hi

You MUST remember to set the cabin heater fully onto hot before you drain anything, and leave it there until you have refilled and bled the system, otherwise the heater matrix will be isolated and you will end up with an air lock. It doesn't have to be blowing, just set fully onto the hottest setting.

Set the heater onto hot

Remove the bottom hose from the radiator, and then refit it once the draining has stopped.

Top up the expansion bottle to the maximum level with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water, pouring it in very slowly to minimise the possibility of air locks, then start the engine, but do not replace the filler cap.

Keep the coolant topped up as the engine warms up, and then once the cooling fan has been on and off once or twice and there are no more air bubbles bubbling into the expansion bottle, switch off the engine and replace the filler cap.

Try not to confuse the returning coolant from the return pipe at the top of the expansion bottle for air bubbles.

Very best regards

GeordieHow to change coolant in Rover 75?no, there shouldnt be, just be wary of air locks in the system. if its a petrol theres a few places to check, the hoses which go into the heater matrix through the bulkhead and (if its a k series) the small hoses for the cold start. Be carefull levering off the bottom hose as the radiatiors can be brittle.
