How to change engine coolant in Honda Odyssey 2001?

I need to change coolant in my Honda Odyssey 2001. I know it is better to let professional do it, but due to my difficult economic situation I decided to do it myself. My Honda has automatic climate control. What are the steps do get coolant changed? Thanks for any suggestion!!!How to change engine coolant in Honda Odyssey 2001?the Odyssey uses long life coolant so be sure to use that when you replace it. Buy the pre-mix 50/50 replacement coolant. you can't replace the long-life coolant with the cheaper ethyl-glycol type. If that's your intention, you're better off not changing the coolant.

as for replacing it, there will be a 'petcock' at the bottom of the radiator that looks like a %26quot;T%26quot; with a tube in the center coming out of one of the sides. the %26quot;T%26quot; part turns to the left and the coolant will drain out of the tube in the center. Take the radiator cap off to let air into the radiator as the coolant comes out.

Coolant is hazardous waste so you need to capture it and turn it in at a recycling center. most coolants are toxic to animals so keep the dog away.

once you drain the coolant refill the radiator then put the cap on. remove the coolant overflow jug at the end of the rubber hose that is attached to the radiator filler neck. You'll need to hold the overflow jug up so that the level of the coolant in the overflow jug is above the height of the dashboard inside the car.

then run the engine and wait for the thermostat to open. the level of fluid in the radiator will drop and the reservoir will drain down. when the level in the coolant reservoir has stabilized, let the engine run until the cooling fan comes on. If you skip this step, you'll have air trapped in the cooling system that can cause you to have 'no heat' or for the engine to overheat.

unless the coolant is contaminated by oil or such, I would really suggest you have the coolant tested and see if it really needs to be replaced. If so, do it right or pay someone to do it for you.

hope that helpsHow to change engine coolant in Honda Odyssey 2001?screw out bottom hose clamp, take out hose drain old coolant, put back on hose screw in clamp put new coolant, start engine and top up coolant until cooling fan start working
