Bmw over heating?

how to change coolant bmw 5 seriesBmw over heating? If the engine is over heating it is unlikely that the coolant is the problem. There are several things that could be at fault:-

1) Thermostat failed in closed position.

2) Electric fan not cutting in.

3) Water pump failed.

4) Gasket on headed tank filler damaged.

5) Header cap filler spring damaged.

6) Sender unit of thermostat not working.

7) Radiator matrix blocked.

Ja.Bmw over heating? If the engine is overheating it is unlikely to be the coolant which is at fault. It is more likely to be the thermostatic valve which opens to allow the fluid to circulate. This is probably not opening and hence no circulation and overheating.

Buy a Haynes manual. They are available for just about every car their is and will explain how to do most jobs and provide plenty pictures and diagrams.Bmw over heating?first check the coolant level. then check to make sure that the cooling fan fuse has not blown.Bmw over heating?I had a BMW 540i, the dealer will use a special pressurized system to fill the cooling system.

but you need to top it up, wait till it gets hot (stats open) then carefully vent the air from the rad, not the expansion bottle. then when it cools it will draw the water from the expansion bottle, it took me weeks to get to the right level.

or go to a BMW specialist or dealer...Bmw over heating?Could be one of the following head gasket, thermostat, partly blocked radiator , inertia cooling fan ,low coolant , depending how old it is fan belt
