How do I flush my engine coolant?

I have a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer. I would like to flush and change out the coolant myself to save money. Is anyone familiar with how to perform this task on a Mountaineer?How do I flush my engine coolant?if you go to most auto part stores you can buy a adapter to fasten a garden hose to or do as i did and remove the radiator cap and open the drain on the bottom of the radiator. just put the hose in the radiator fill hole and turn the water on. you would want the car to be running to do this as the thermostat will open and close as it should and the water pump will circulate the fresh water through the entire engine i would let it run like this for 30 minutes to an hour. when the fluid coming out is clerar you can shut down the car remove the hose and add the proper mixture of coolant. dont just put water cause so called anti freeze is actually oily if you havent noticed. pure water will wind up giving you premature wear on the water pump. a store bought coolant that is premixed is the best way to goHow do I flush my engine coolant?Go to your local parts house (Autozone, Kragen, Pep Boys, whatever) and get a Prestone Flush-n-fill kit.
