just need to know, how much coolant do i need to buy to re-fill the system...the owners manual and haynes manual dont say anything.......

fit the cap on loose (half turn) and idle the engine. Once the level has dropped that means that the thermostat has opened and you need to top it off. you will have to do this a few times untill after the engine gets warm and opens that thermostat. then it is just a matter of topping it off.Engine Coolant?Depends, if you are only going to drain the radiator, replace the t-stat and refill the radiator then a gallon of 100% antifreeze will do. If you plan on doing a completed flush buy 2 gallons of 100% antifreeze. In the end you want a 50/50 mix, when you by the anitfreeze get a tester also so you can check the mixture.Engine Coolant?Coolant only comes in gallon jugs. about a fifty/fifty ratio is good or you can purchase a hydrometer at the parts store for like about $2 it's usually a red bulb on top with a glass tube with differant colored balls in side of it and a small red hose attached. I always buy distilled water to mix.Engine Coolant?if you have a 4 or 6 cyl. engine, 2 gallons will definately be enough because you are going to mix it 50/50 with water to make 4 gallons (you will probably only need 3 gallons but better to have extra). if you are buying premix then I would buy 3.Engine Coolant?Most vehicles require about 2 gallons, unless the engine block is drained. Get 2 gallons of 50/50 antifreeze/water mix from your dealer and just pour it in.
Never run straight antifreeze, because water is required to activate the lubricating and anti-corrosion properties.
