Changing 1999 Trans Am Coolant?

I want to flush and replace the dexcool in my 1999 Trans Am and was wondering if anybody can point me to a writeup (or possibly just tell me how right here) detailing how to do a complete FLUSH and refill of the system.Changing 1999 Trans Am Coolant?at an auto parts store ask for a back flush adapter, it's a T fitting that goes in the cooling system line.

drain coolant into a container, the stuff will kill any pets that drink it.

connect a water hose to the fitting, this will force water in an opposite flow clearing the system.

drain radiator and add new coolant.Changing 1999 Trans Am Coolant? You can go to a auto part store and get radiator flush to put in you cooling system of your car and to this job. On the can of radiator flush has direction on how use it.

1) Put the flush in the radiator

2) Run the motor as requested

3) Turn car off and lat cool down for a hour so. You want to get burned.

4) Put a tub or pan under the radiator where the bottom radiator hose is and loosen the hose clamp and remove the radiator hose. (you will get wet some when doing this.) Remove the radiator cap.

5) When all of the coolant stop draining out put the bottom radiator hose back on and tighten the clamp.

6) Put two gallons of antifreeze coolant in the radiator and add water until it is full.

7) Start up the car and run with the radiator cap off and fill as need it.(There should be about a 1-2 inch air gap when you look down inside the radiator you don't want to over fill the radiator)

I hope this help you.Changing 1999 Trans Am Coolant?go to the autoforums on the web. Really good advice there.Changing 1999 Trans Am Coolant?Take it to a garage. A car that old could spring leaks after a radiator flush. If this happens you would be glad that it is in the garage where they could fix or replace the radiator.
