I didn't put much coolant in oil tank, tank was empty. do i have to change my oil can't i just fill tank.?

How do you change your oil? i'm clueless!!I didn't put much coolant in oil tank, tank was empty. do i have to change my oil can't i just fill tank.?If you're referring to the crankcase in a vehicle - and it was empty - simply drain the coolant out and add a qt of oil while the plug is still removed to help flush any residual coolant out - replace the plug and top it off with oil.

If you're referring to a heating oil tank - if the outlet is on the bottom of the tank, simply drain it out. If the outlet is on the side of the tank, add a stabilizer and fill the tank.I didn't put much coolant in oil tank, tank was empty. do i have to change my oil can't i just fill tank.?why did you put coolant in the oil? Coolant goes in the coolant container, oil goes into the engine. If you mix them, you can ruin the engine. There should be a drain plug at the bottom of the engine. be sure to use an oil pan big enough to collect all of the oil and have a container to put the oil in for later disposal at a waste site. Be sure to put the right amount of oil in the engine. It will say in the owners manual. Get a new oil filter as well and read the instructions on how to install it. If you don't have an owners manual or a service repair book, buy them and read how to change the oil in your specific car.I didn't put much coolant in oil tank, tank was empty. do i have to change my oil can't i just fill tank.?HI
