How much doesit cost for this..?

hi

how much does it cost to change transmision fluid and coolant for 2000 chevy impala car..How much doesit cost for this..?Figure $85-115 for the transmission and $40-60 for the coolant.

When you get the transmission done, make sure they remove the transmission pan, clean it, replace the gasket, and replace the filter. Many shops use a 'flush machine' - they claim it's better, but they just stir up dirt and leave the old filter in - so your new fluid is immediately contaminated. Do a Google search and you should come up with more info on the procedure; allpar.com has some good info. How much doesit cost for this..? You can expect about 140.00 for the two, best to wait for a special to save your money. Coolant type is important, so make sure they use the fluid recommended for your car as well as the proper fluid for the trans. The best systems do a flush on both, don't worry about the trans filter unless the fluid is very dirty and is recommended by your shop. Many transmissions don't even have a paper filter anymore but have a screen that is only restricted if there is extreme wear.

The other concern is the water they use to cut the coolant to a 50/50 mix, most water contains minerals which cause problems in cooling systems so give them two gallons of distilled water to use. (I have never worked at or seen a shop have or use the proper water) I make a point to use factory fluids and distilled water in my cars with zero failures ever in mine. If you love your car use care and it will last you a very long time, make sure the shop knows you like your car and ask them questions to prove it.
