so the best answer ir to repair it correctlyHow do i hot wire the coolant fan of a 95 mercury sable 3.0 to an egnition wire without it starting a fire? You'll need to know which wire is your fan sensor. Often it is a located on the radiator. All that happens normally is when the car heats up the sensors switch shorts and connects the two wires together and runs the fan. If it's one wire the switch connects the wire to ground via the switch body. You can either jumper the two wires together or take the one wire to ground and turn on the fan BUT - most cars fan systems are hot wired to work even when the ignition is off - to cool down the car after it's been running. If this is the case you'll have to stop the fan each time you stop the car or flatten the battery. Also the fan is meant to run intermitently when the car is driven below 25 mph or so for a while - you'll wear it out MUCH faster this way. Here's an easy solution. Go to your local auto store - get another switch - get the right sized wrench or socket to change it ( box end ). Pull out the old one - stick your finger in the hole (wait for motor to cool down!) and put the new one in quickly - tighten down carefully - not too tight. Hey presto problem finished - IF it's ther sensor that's bad!
