I recently had to change a head on my truck and then changed the intake. doing this I lost alot of coolant, my motor is all back together, so how can I make sure when I pour more coolant in that I wont have air pockets in the hoses and motor?Getting engine coolant back in my motor?The air pocket that is most common when refilling an empty coolant system will be in the heater core. After you fill the system with all that it can hold before running the engine,start the engine and run the defroster.This will keep the air from heating up and creating back pressure in the system that causes the coolant not to flow OR if you really want to make sure there is no air in the system, you can remove the thermostat and housing(given that it is on top of the engine) and pour in coolant until you see it come out of the manifold. Then when the coolant comes out,re-install the thermostat and your ready to go.
