Update!!!! Nissan Altima 97. went on vacation. came back...changed the oil + coolant. white smoke comes out?

white smoke comes out the exhaust on a regular basis. it has the smell to it as well. im kinda worried so any info is appreciated. when im driving...right before the smoke comes out...the car kinda resists ( if that makes sense) i dont drive the car that much at all ( maybe 20 mins a day) but its been going on for more than a week.

I Just checked the coolant that i had filled and its 3/4 gone. i had literally filled it. what does that mean? what can i do about it and how much to you think it would cost?

please help....thank you.Update!!!! Nissan Altima 97. went on vacation. came back...changed the oil + coolant. white smoke comes out?Does the smell smell like maple syrup? I know it sounds strange, but my 99 Altima did the same thing.

In mine, there was a crack in the block 9 (I think) and one day it broke down. It was pretty much unfixable. You probably should take it to be looked at.Update!!!! Nissan Altima 97. went on vacation. came back...changed the oil + coolant. white smoke comes out?head gasget blownUpdate!!!! Nissan Altima 97. went on vacation. came back...changed the oil + coolant. white smoke comes out?SMOKE: MOISTURE IN YOUR FUEL SYSTEM OR THE ENGINE MIGHT BE BURNING MOTOR OIL IN THE OIL PAN BELOW THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER

SMELL: LEAK IN A PIPE THAT DRIPS ON SOMETHING HOT OR THE ENGINE IS BURNING THE MOTOR OIL IN THE OIL PAN BELOW THE COMBUSTION CHAMBERUpdate!!!! Nissan Altima 97. went on vacation. came back...changed the oil + coolant. white smoke comes out?First of all the white smoke is the chemical solvent burning out of the system, secondly when filling the coolant reservoir you should have the vehicle running. See what happens is when the car is off and you top off the fluid it just sits there, but the minute you start it up the fluid gets sucked down into the radiator by a vacuum reaction and doesn't come back up. So when you go to fill it start the engine, open the reservoir top but be careful and slow, then begin filling it, be sure not to go beyond the max line. Do that first and if by the third day your still feeling that hesitation get it to your closest Nissan dealership more than likely something else is going on. The hesitation could also be caused by not enough oil in the engine, check the level and adjust it if need, if it's been overfilled get to a shop so they drain some of the oil. My suggestion would be get it to a Dealership before something worse happens. Goodluck!! You could have a blown head gasket.Update!!!! Nissan Altima 97. went on vacation. came back...changed the oil + coolant. white smoke comes out?I have to agree the head gasket failed and your next thing to do is find a automotive technician with Nissan experence to do the work. Timing chain on that engine isn't difficult to figure out. Nissan repairs come with a one year 12,000 warranty and steep labor rate. However ( I) and (We) Nissan Technicians remove that car cyl head more often and know if we see any other problems like the other answer %26quot;Cracked block%26quot; Which is very unlikely unless the spark plug wires melted way to hot.
